One of Dallas’ hottest cocktail-centric events is back for its sixth annual toast: The Ultimate Cocktail Experience returns to Klyde Warren Park on Saturday, Sept. 30. This baby has come a long way from its earlier iteration as a collection of themed pop-up bars under one roof (remember that one year I was on a bar team?! Epic!).

Back then, teams of DFW bartenders dreamed up concepts and menus for fanciful pop-up bars in one location. And, boy, has it evolved from there!

It’s Big Texas Beer Fest Time Again!

Late March/early April are heading our way quick, which means … so is this year’s Big Texas Beer Fest! Yeehaw and bottoms up!

The annual beer-sipping extravaganza is coming back to Fair Park and bringing its usual super-extensive slate of craft beers from Dallas, Texas, the US and the world over. Beginning last year, BTBF became a two-day affair, and it seems that format was popular enough to be repeated this month. The Friday and Saturday sessions are the same, except for the live-band lineup. So whichever day you go, you’ll be sure to enjoy brews aplenty.

My North Texas Beer Week Wish List

North Texas Beer Week is back to lift beer lovers from Dallas to Fort Worth to Denton to sudsy nirvana. This year’s celebration features more than 400 events from today through Sunday, Nov. 15, so not only would you be crazy not to make time to hit up one or more of them, but you can be sure to find some event to rave about. Foodies can find a multitude of beer pairing meals; hopheads can lean toward any number of IPA-forward tastings and tappings; even fruity beer lovers have an event to emblazon on their calendar. Best part? There’s seemingly an activity or party for every interest in between.

Savor Dallas bulks up its slate of spirits and beer

Membership has its privileges, someone once said. And that is true of Goody Goody’s deep involvement in this year’s Savor Dallas, the refreshed annual food and wine extravaganza that kicks off tonight. Last year, the Dallas Morning News-owned event firm CrowdSource scooped up Savor Dallas from co-founders Jim White and Vicky Briley-White and have since unleashed a slew of cool changes to the four-day event!

In addition to a (sold-out) Community Brunch on Sunday whose proceeds benefit Cafe Momentum, a new series of informational foodie/drinkie events called the Toast of the Town Event Series will take place at some of the finest restos in town all throughout Savor Dallas.

But, hey — this is a beer and spirits blog. So what we’re most excited about is that the centerpiece Grand Tasting (the huge food and drink sampling extravaganza going down this year at Fair Park’s Centennial Hall) is debuting a spirits alley featuring among the best brands in the biz. (The Reserve Tasting just before the Grand Tasting is also featuring a mixology corner, but that event’s sold out!) PLUS, Savor Dallas has joined forces with the folks at Untapped (also run by CrowdSource) to present a craft beer corner at the Grand Tasting.

The mini-Untapped participants will include brews from Ballast Point, Boulevard, Brooklyn, Dogfish Head, Goose Island, Firestone Walker, Lakewood and Ommegang. Hanging out on the spirits alley will be nearly 40 labels, including Woodford Reserve, Tullamore D.E.W., Fernet, Herradura and Grey Goose. So slap on your Bytox patch before you navigate the offerings this Saturday, because there’ll be a ton to savor at Savor Dallas!
