Late March/early April are heading our way quick, which means … so is this year’s Big Texas Beer Fest! Yeehaw and bottoms up!
The annual beer-sipping extravaganza is coming back to Fair Park and bringing its usual super-extensive slate of craft beers from Dallas, Texas, the US and the world over. Beginning last year, BTBF became a two-day affair, and it seems that format was popular enough to be repeated this month. The Friday and Saturday sessions are the same, except for the live-band lineup. So whichever day you go, you’ll be sure to enjoy brews aplenty.
As in years past, in addition to live music, there’ll be lots of food trucks on hand for tasty beer and grub pairings (Easy Slider, Brat Haus and Ten50 BBQ, among them); still, I highly recommend going all DIY and making your own pretzel necklace. Those things won’t replace a full meal, but they’ll come in way handy not just as a snack but as a mighty-fine palate cleanser between all the beers you’ll be sampling!
As ever, there’ll be general admission and VIP tickets, with the latter gaining you access to the fest an hour earlier than GA, as well as a commemorative glass, first dibs on tasting rare and limited beers, and in-and-out privileges. GA tickets are $35 on Friday and $39 on Saturday; VIP tickets are $60 on Friday and sold out on Saturday. So get ON it and purchase tickets here!
My only other pointer besides the pretzel necklace and springing for VIP tickets is to take DART rail to the Fest. Fair Park parking is $10, but, more important, who wants to drive after a beer festival?! DART’s Fair Park Station is so close to the action, it’s almost a no-brainer to hop on the train. So be safe and have a blast!
